Applications are now being accepted for the develoPPP Ventures Ideas Competition. This initiative targets early-stage businesses with innovative approaches that contribute to better living conditions in emerging or developing nations and are ready to expand their operations. Supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the program offers a non-equity investment of 100,000 euros through a matching-funds model to help finance strategic growth.

Currently, the program is open to ventures operating in countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Tanzania, with additional locations expected to be added. Along with financial backing, selected companies will receive tailored support from industry professionals to enhance their business development.

To qualify, companies must have progressed beyond the start-up phase, already achieved some revenue, and demonstrate sustainable growth potential. Eligible businesses should be privately held, operate for profit, and present a credible financial and operational strategy. Applicants must be able to produce at least one financial report and must not have raised more than €2 million in total funding. Additionally, the venture should be capable of attracting other investors and be on track to reach financial self-sufficiency within three years.

Each submission will be assessed using a consistent and transparent evaluation process. Those who advance past the initial screening will be invited to present their business idea to a panel organized by DEG Impulse and GIZ. Finalists may undergo a field assessment, and if successful, will proceed to sign a funding agreement.
