The French Embassy in Kenya and Somalia is opening its doors to a dynamic communications professional, with an opportunity to join their diplomatic team as a Social Media and Press Officer. This full-time position, based in Nairobi, begins on October 1, 2025, and presents a unique chance for a skilled communicator to contribute to the Embassy’s public engagement and diplomatic visibility in the region.
Working directly under the guidance of the Political Counsellor and Head of the Press Office, the selected candidate will play a key role in shaping how the Embassy shares its activities and values with the public. The responsibilities range from curating compelling digital content and managing online platforms to maintaining close ties with the media and organizing communication for high-level visits and events. The role will also involve keeping tabs on political and civil society developments while crafting press releases and digital content that reflect the mission and outreach of the French diplomatic presence in East Africa.
Ideal applicants should have a strong background in digital communications, including familiarity with web and social media tools, excellent writing skills, and the ability to build strong narratives across platforms. Experience working with journalists and influencers is highly valued, as is a deep understanding of online culture and communication strategies. Fluency in both English and Kiswahili is required, while knowledge of French would be a significant advantage.
The Embassy offers a competitive gross monthly salary of KES 421,845, and the role comes with an initial one-year contract, with the possibility of long-term employment based on performance and mutual agreement. The successful candidate will work at the Embassy’s offices in Peponi Gardens, Nairobi.
