Nominations are open for the ACHIEVE Africa Leadership & Expert Roles
The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) has opened a continental and global call for nominations to join the governance and technical leadership structures of ACHIEVE Africa — an African-led platform working to strengthen vaccine research, biologics development, and health innovation systems across Africa.
This initiative aims to expand Africa’s scientific leadership while accelerating equitable access to vaccines, advanced biotechnology, and sustainable manufacturing capacity on the continent.
About ACHIEVE Africa
ACHIEVE Africa (Accelerating Health Innovation, Equity, and Development of Vaccines and Biologics in Africa) focuses on:
- Strengthening African-led research and development ecosystems
- Advancing vaccine and biologics innovation pipelines
- Expanding clinical trials and manufacturing capabilities
- Promoting adoption of next-generation technologies such as mRNA platforms
- Building strategic partnerships across the global health sector
The program brings together experts, institutions, and innovators committed to improving health security and biomedical innovation across Africa.
Available Leadership & Expert Positions
Stakeholder Council
Role: Strategic governance and oversight body.
Responsibilities
- Provide long-term strategic direction
- Oversee governance and financial stewardship
- Ensure alignment with African health priorities
- Guide partnerships and institutional coordination
Ideal Candidates
Senior leaders with expertise in:
- Public health
- Vaccine and biologics R&D
- Health policy and regulation
- Financing and partnerships
- Innovation ecosystem development
Service Term
- Approximately 3 years (renewable)
- Around four meetings annually plus working group participation
Scientific Advisory Group (SAG)
Role: Independent scientific and technical advisory body.
Responsibilities
- Offer high-level scientific guidance
- Strengthen program quality and impact
- Provide independent technical assessment
Ideal Candidates

- Biomedical research

Service Term
- Three-year renewable appointment
- Periodic advisory meetings and consultations
Program Leadership Team (PLT)
