Applications are now open for the Internal Communications & Engagement Project Officer position at SDSN Youth, offering young leaders an opportunity to contribute to a global network dedicated to advancing sustainable development and youth engagement.
The remote and flexible role is designed for individuals who are passionate about communications, community building, youth participation, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Successful candidates will join an international team working to strengthen internal communication systems, support member engagement, coordinate recruitment activities, and foster stronger connections among youth leaders worldwide.
Established in 2015, SDSN Youth was created to empower young people to develop and promote sustainable solutions that contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Through its global network, the organization continues to support youth-led initiatives focused on advocacy, capacity building, collaboration, and data-driven sustainable development.
About the Position
The Internal Communications & Engagement Project Officer will work closely with the SDSN Youth leadership team to improve communication and engagement among current members and alumni while supporting the organization's internal operations.
As a fully remote position, the role requires strong communication, effective time management, and the ability to collaborate with team members across multiple time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Selected candidates will contribute to several core activities, including:
Internal Communications and Administration
- Maintaining internal databases and contact directories.
- Updating internal documentation, templates, and guidelines.
- Supporting the distribution of organizational announcements and updates.
- Ensuring internal records remain accurate and accessible.
Recruitment Support
- Assisting with outreach activities.
- Supporting application coordination.
- Communicating with prospective candidates throughout the recruitment process.
Alumni and Community Engagement
- Supporting alumni engagement initiatives.
- Maintaining alumni databases and records.
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of internal activities and meetings.
- Encouraging active participation within the SDSN Youth network.
Position Details
Position: Internal Communications & Engagement Project Officer

Location: Remote (Worldwide)
Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week
Contract Duration: 12 months
Trial Period: 3 months
Compensation: Voluntary
Training and Professional Development
Successful applicants will complete SDSN Youth induction courses and training programs designed to strengthen their understanding of the organization's mission, internal systems, and operational procedures.
The position offers valuable experience for young professionals interested in communications, youth engagement, international development, sustainability, and organizational management.
