A Cullman Center Fellow receives a stipend of $85,000, :Apply for Cullman Center Fellowship Program with trip to New York
Projects that utilise the research collections of The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building—formerly the Humanities and Social Sciences Library—are supported by the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Centre for Scholars and Writers. The Centre is looking for outstanding writing from independent scholars, creative authors, and academics alike. Applications are also encouraged from visual artists whose projects necessitate a large-scale use of library holdings.
In terms of race, ethnicity, age, gender, profession, and project type, the Centre is looking for variety. Within the Centre, in public forums across the Library, and in the published work of the Fellows, the Centre seeks to foster vibrant discourse about the humanities, social sciences, and scholarship at the highest level.
The Schwarzman Building will be the primary location for successful candidates to work, as opposed to other Library departments. We accept applications from those who work in languages other than English, but all documents submitted with the application must be in English. Fellowships for post-doctoral fellows or candidates conducting graduate-level dissertation research will not be awarded for academic projects.
Range
Fellowships are available from the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Centre for Scholars and Writers to individuals whose work would directly benefit from access to the research resources housed at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. The Library is one of the best places in the world to study anthropology, art, geography, history, languages and literature, philosophy, politics, popular culture, psychology, religion, sociology, sports, and urban studies. It is renowned for the remarkably extensive scope of its holdings.
