ACCESS TO FUNDING: Apply for the 2025 IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator (NewGen) Programme
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in collaboration with the Enel Foundation and Social Alpha, has opened applications for the 2025 edition of the NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator Programme. Now in its third year, the initiative aims to empower youth-led businesses working in the renewable and climate tech sectors by offering them structured guidance and tools for scaling their impact. Through a four-month hybrid programme, selected participants will gain tailored mentorship from industry and business professionals to refine their business strategies, reach broader markets, and strengthen their appeal to investors.
The programme welcomes aspiring young innovators from anywhere in the world, provided they are between the ages of 18 and 35. Eligible ventures must have at least one founder under the age of 35, and a minimum of two co-founders must each be available to dedicate 16 hours per month to attend all accelerator activities. The enterprise should operate in one of the following focus areas: renewable energy solutions (including solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, green hydrogen, and bioenergy), technologies addressing climate adaptation (such as innovations in water, agriculture, livestock management, early warning systems, and resilience to extreme weather), or climate mitigation innovations (spanning sustainable transport, circular economy approaches, energy transition, smart grid development, and efficiency improvements).
This programme offers a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to accelerate their ventures while contributing to the global shift towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
