The African Leadership Centre (ALC) has opened applications for the 2026/2027 Associate Fellowship in Peace, Security and Development, a prestigious leadership and academic programme designed for emerging African scholars committed to advancing peacebuilding, governance, and sustainable development across the continent.

Delivered in partnership with King’s College London, the fellowship integrates postgraduate study with mentorship, policy engagement, and professional placement opportunities.

Programme Overview

This 18-month fellowship combines academic training with practical leadership development. Selected fellows will enroll in the MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding while participating in a structured fellowship focused on research, policy dialogue, and African-led solutions to security and development challenges.

The programme aims to nurture a new generation of leaders equipped to influence peace and development agendas locally, regionally, and globally.

Candidates must submit two separate applications:

1. Associate Fellowship Application

  • Register and apply through the African Leadership Centre application portal
  • Complete all required sections and upload supporting documents

2. MSc Programme Application

  • Apply through the King’s College London admissions portal
  • Select Peace & Security Fellowship during programme selection

Eligibility Criteria
- Hold citizenship from an African country

- Demonstrate commitment to careers in peace, security, leadership, or development

- Show evidence of independent thinking, integrity, and excellence

- Demonstrate respect for diversity and youth leadership values

- Obtain admission to the MSc Global Leadership and Peacebuilding programme

- Meet English language proficiency requirements where applicable

- Be eligible to secure a UK student visa

- Possess valid travel documentation before programme commencement
