Applications are now open for the second cohort of the IWA LeaP Leadership Programme, an international initiative designed to support the next generation of leaders in the global water sector. Organized by the International Water Association, the programme offers a year-long leadership journey for emerging young professionals committed to creating positive change in water and sustainability.

The programme brings together 12 outstanding young water professionals from different countries and backgrounds to strengthen leadership skills, expand professional networks, and build the confidence needed to influence change at local and global levels.

About the Programme

The IWA LeaP programme focuses on leadership development through practical learning, collaboration, mentorship, and global engagement. Participants will take part in immersive learning experiences designed to help them navigate complex environmental and societal challenges within the water sector.

Over the course of 12 months, selected participants will engage in:

• Leadership coaching and virtual learning sessions
• Collaborative project work and team discussions
• Professional networking with international water experts
• Strategic leadership development activities
• Global workshops and sector engagement opportunities

Programme Activities

Participants will be expected to:

• Attend a four-day leadership retreat scheduled for early 2027
• Commit approximately four hours monthly for preparation and project work
• Participate in around five hours of monthly online coaching, workshops, and meetings
• Contribute to workshop delivery during the 2028 IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition in Malaysia

Programme Vision

The initiative aims to prepare emerging leaders who can respond effectively to rapidly changing global water challenges. By combining personal growth, collaborative learning, and international engagement, the programme seeks to strengthen the future leadership pipeline within the global water sector.
