Apply for the Wetskills Spain Water Challenge 2026 in Barcelona
Applications are now open for the Wetskills Spain Water Challenge 2026, an international innovation programme that will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from 12–24 September 2026. The event brings together students, young professionals, and water experts from around the world to develop practical solutions for real-world water and sustainability challenges.
Participants will collaborate in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams while working alongside industry experts, academic institutions, businesses, and public organizations to address pressing water issues through innovative thinking.
About the Programme
The Wetskills Spain 2026 edition marks the programme's debut in Spain and focuses on transforming Water Footprint concepts into practical action. Throughout the two-week challenge, participants will tackle real cases related to sustainable water management while gaining hands-on experience in international collaboration and innovation.
The programme concludes with a final pitching competition on 23 September 2026, where teams will present their solutions to an international jury of water professionals.
Areas of Focus
Participants will work on challenges related to:
- Water footprint reduction
- Circular water management
- Sustainable business practices
- Water stewardship
- ESG reporting
- Water compensation mechanisms
- Climate resilience and water sustainability
- Implementation of the Act4Water Standard
Participation Costs
The standard participation fee is €575 (excluding VAT where applicable), which includes:
- Shared accommodation
- Team-building activities
- Selected lunches and dinners
- Workshops and working facilities
- Field visits
Participants are responsible for:
- International and local travel
- Daily meals not included in the programme
- Personal expenses
Applicants who already live in Barcelona and do not require accommodation can participate for €50 (excluding VAT where applicable).
Many previous participants have secured financial support through their universities, employers, mobility grants, or training funds.
