COP30 : Apply for the Roots of Justice: Strengthening Atabey Voices campaign ( receive a grant of up to 10,000 EUR)
Are you involved with any grassroots organisations led by young people in Latin America or the Caribbean that address the connections between land rights and climate justice? It's your turn!
The campaign focuses on empowering youth, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities in Latin America and the Caribbean, advocating for climate justice and land rights. It offers financial and technical support to campaigns led by youth from the regions most affected by the climate crisis, especially those pushing for land rights and climate action, particularly leading up to COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Atabey, the Taíno Indigenous deity symbolizing the Earth, fertility, and nature’s cycles, represents the deep connection between land and life. Just as Atabey embodies nature’s strength and resilience, it inspires this campaign to amplify the voices of those who have long served as stewards of the land—Indigenous Peoples, women, and youth—ensuring they have the power to influence policies impacting their territories and future.
Roots of Justice: Strengthening Atabey Voices works to advocate for land and territorial rights for Indigenous Peoples and local communities, stronger protections against violence and gender inequality, and equitable climate finance that prioritizes youth-led grassroots movements. By supporting youth-led organizations, groups, and movements, the campaign aims to address challenges in the lead-up to COP30, marking a historic opportunity for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Through this initiative, organizations, collectives, or grassroots movements can receive grants of up to 10,000 EUR to develop public campaigns that mobilize people toward a shared goal. These campaigns should have a clear timeframe, focused strategy, and advocacy objectives aimed at influencing decision-makers or shaping public opinion.
In addition to funding, the selected groups will join a cohort of five youth-led organizations at the Global Land Forum in Bogotá, where they will launch their campaign strategies, build networks, and strengthen their advocacy efforts.
Organizations, collectives, or grassroots movements working on land rights and climate justice and ready to drive real change are encouraged to apply.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 07 April 2025 .
