Applications are currently open for the 2026 LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future Fellowship, a global youth leadership initiative organized by The Asia Foundation. The programme brings together emerging leaders from the Asia-Pacific region and the United States to strengthen cross-border collaboration and prepare young changemakers for leadership in an increasingly interconnected world.
Designed as the foundation’s flagship youth fellowship, LeadNext focuses on nurturing globally minded leaders aged 18–25 who are committed to creating meaningful impact across sectors and cultures.
About the Fellowship
The LeadNext fellowship runs from June to September 2026 and combines virtual learning, mentorship, and international engagement. Participants will explore leadership approaches suited for complex global challenges while building lasting professional networks across regions.
Through a people-centered learning model, fellows gain practical experience in intercultural collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. The programme emphasizes shared learning between participants from Asia-Pacific countries and the United States, encouraging mutual understanding and collective leadership.
Programme Structure
The fellowship includes:
- Thirteen virtual sessions conducted across multiple time zones
- Collaborative learning with a diverse international cohort
- Practical leadership exercises and dialogue sessions
- A culminating in-person global summit bringing fellows together in the United States
The cohort is intentionally balanced, with participants selected equally from the United States and Asia-Pacific countries to encourage meaningful exchange and long-term cooperation.
