An 8-week Summer Scholarship is now open for medical students enrolled in UK programmes who are interested in exploring the field of medical mycology through practical research experience. Hosted by the Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM) in Exeter and partner institutions, this programme offers early-career clinicians a structured introduction to laboratory research and academic medicine.

Designed for students with little or no prior research background, the scholarship combines hands-on laboratory training with guided exposure to study design, data analysis, and scientific communication. Participants will work closely with experienced researchers while developing skills that support future applications to Clinical Training Fellowships and doctoral programmes.

At the end of the programme, scholars will present their project outcomes at the Annual Academic Careers Evening, providing valuable experience in academic presentation and professional networking.
