FULLY FUNDED : Check out the 2025 YSEALI Professional Fellows Program in USA

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP) is a fully-funded exchange initiative supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

This program offers emerging leaders from Southeast Asia the chance to spend five to six weeks in the United States, where they gain valuable fellowship experiences in non-profit, public, or private sector organizations.

The program is structured to foster mutual understanding, strengthen leadership and professional abilities, and establish enduring partnerships between young leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States.

YSEALI PFP operates under four main themes: Civic Engagement; Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Empowerment; Society and Governance; and Sustainability and the Environment.

Program Benefits
You will gain from the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program in the USA 2025 in the following ways:


The program pays for living expenses and travel throughout the world.

Fellows wishing to apply for J-1 visas will receive assistance from the American Councils.

YSEALI PFP will pay for the interview transportation and the cost of the visa.

YSEALI PFP will provide extra health advantages to fellows.

The program gives fellows the chance to live with an American family, go on cultural outings, or stay with a temporary host family in order to gain an understanding of US society.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program, you must be a citizen and resident of one of the eleven participating countries: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, or Vietnam. Applicants residing outside these countries or participating in long-term programs elsewhere are not eligible.

You should be an emerging leader in government, civil society, or the private sector, with relevant experience aligned with the theme under which you are applying. At the time of application, you need to be employed and have at least two years of professional experience.

Eligible candidates must be between 25 and 35 years old, self-motivated, capable of working in diverse cultural settings, and able to identify a project or objective they wish to implement upon returning to their home country. Proficiency in both written and spoken English, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills, is also required.
