Are you an ocean practitioner or marine scientist based in West or North Africa looking to enhance your skills in cutting-edge biodiversity monitoring techniques?

The UNESCO IOC Sub Commission for Africa & the Adjacent Island States (IOCAFRICA), in collaboration with OceanTeacher Global Academy and the University of Ghana, is offering a fully funded Environmental DNA (eDNA) training course from 3–7 November 2025 in Accra, Ghana.

This blended training is designed to equip Early Career and Mid-Career Ocean Professionals with theoretical and hands-on knowledge in eDNA sampling, laboratory processing, bioinformatic analysis, and application in marine ecosystem monitoring.

What You'll Learn:

• Module 1: Introduction to eDNA

• Module 2: Molecular methods for eDNA

• Module 3: Bioinformatics and Data Management

Location:

University of Ghana, Accra (Face-to-face), with online pre-course component (~12 hours).

Target Audience:

• Early to mid-career ocean scientists and practitioners

• Residents of West or North Africa

• With background in marine biodiversity sampling and a working knowledge of English

Costs:

• Free of charge. Travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered for selected participants.
