FULLY FUNDED TO DENMARK: Apply for the DESA funding to attend the 2025 UN Climate and SDGs Conference in Copenhagen

Applications are open for young individuals interested in attending the Sixth Global Conference on Climate and SDG Synergies, scheduled for May 27-28, 2025, at UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is providing one fully funded spot for a youth participant from the Global South, while at least one self-funded position will be available for applicants from each region.

This global gathering serves as a strategic platform to advance integrated efforts toward climate action and sustainable development. Organized by UN DESA in partnership with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat and hosted by Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event will convene policymakers, specialists, and key stakeholders to foster innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.

The world is grappling with interconnected challenges, including climate change, economic instability, biodiversity loss, and social inequality, all of which require urgent and unified responses. With over 80% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) directly tied to climate action, disjointed strategies often hinder meaningful progress. This conference seeks to bridge these gaps, enhance collaboration, and maximize impact to ensure that sustainable development efforts leave no one behind. More information about the event can be found here: Conference Website.

Participation Details:

The Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) has the opportunity to nominate at least one self-funded applicant and a maximum of one funded participant from the Global South, supported by UN DESA.

Interested individuals must submit an application, ensuring that their biography strongly aligns with the conference themes, as the details may be reviewed by event organizers. Applications that lack a clear connection to the focus areas of the conference risk being disqualified.

Deadline: April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM (New York time)
