Applications are now open for the HSC Youth Ambassador Program 2027, an opportunity for young sustainability leaders from the Global South to participate in the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) in Germany. Selected Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to contribute to conference discussions, share their experiences and solutions with global leaders, participate in sessions as speakers or attendees, and connect with decision-makers, journalists, youth representatives and other sustainability leaders from around the world.

The program is designed for young people who are already taking meaningful action to address sustainability challenges in their communities. Applicants should demonstrate a track record of creating concrete solutions, mobilizing others, raising awareness or leading initiatives related to sustainability. Selected participants will become part of an international Youth Ambassador cohort and will be involved in activities leading up to and during the conference, creating opportunities to collaborate with fellow young leaders and contribute their perspectives to discussions about building a sustainable future.

The HSC Youth Ambassador Program is a fully funded opportunity, with travel and accommodation costs covered for selected participants. Youth Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to engage with more than 1,600 conference participants, including high-level political and business leaders, and expand their international networks.

To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old, come from and currently reside in a Global South country included on the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients, and be actively involved in sustainability efforts within their community. Applicants must be comfortable communicating in English and willing to dedicate time to the program, including preparatory activities before the conference. They must also be available to travel to a partner country for the HSC Youth Roundtable Series scheduled for December 7–11, 2026. Further details about the location and activities will be provided during the selection process.

The HSC Youth Roundtable Series will take place in December 2026, while the main Hamburg Sustainability Conference is scheduled for May 31–June 1, 2027, in Hamburg, Germany. The application period opened on October 6, 2026, and interested applicants must submit their applications by October 19, 2026. Shortlisted candidates are expected to participate in interview rounds toward the end of October, with final participation confirmations expected by the end of October or early November 2026.

This opportunity is particularly suited to young changemakers who have already demonstrated leadership in sustainability and want to bring their ideas, experiences and community perspectives into conversations involving global decision-makers.
