Fully Funded To India : Be part of the UNESCO 11th Youth Leadership Workshop – Apply now

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), in collaboration with the GCED Youth Network, are inviting passionate youth leaders to apply for the 11th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED.

The goal of this workshop is to empower young leaders by integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into Global Citizenship Education (GCED), providing them with key skills to foster peace, resilience, and sustainability in their communities. Participants will take part in discussions, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities to enhance their understanding of GCED and SEL as powerful tools for driving global change.

Global Citizenship Education (GCED) plays an essential role in promoting empathy, resilience, and solidarity. By incorporating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into its approach, GCED empowers learners with crucial skills to manage emotions, resolve conflicts, and form meaningful relationships. In the digital age, where interactions cross geographical boundaries, nurturing SEL alongside digital citizenship ensures that online communities are spaces of empathy, understanding, and cooperation.

Acknowledging the need for action, the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) are co-hosting the 11th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED, in collaboration with the GCED Youth Network. The event will take place from April 14 to 17, 2025, in New Delhi, India.

Since 2015, the workshop has involved over 400 young leaders globally, building a network of changemakers. This year, the event will bring together 40 youth leaders to explore how SEL and GCED can inspire collective action for peace and sustainability. Participants will engage in discussions, activities, and networking opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of how SEL and GCED address global issues and promote peace. This empowering experience encourages youth to raise their voices as peacebuilders, sparking positive change in their communities and beyond.

Youth are key agents in GCED, playing an important role in driving change, encouraging participation, and shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future. Young people who are passionate about peace, global citizenship, and SEL are invited to take part in this transformative experience, where they will learn, connect, and co-create solutions for a world grounded in empathy, respect, and shared responsibility. Together, we can transform education and society for a better future.

Objectives:

  • To deepen understanding of GCED as a transformative tool for addressing global challenges and promoting peace.
  • To equip youth leaders with SEL skills to foster empathy, resilience, compassion, and collaboration in their communities.
