FULLY FUNDED TO LONDON: Apply for the Hyundai Motor Group Scholarships 2025 for young Africans to study in the UK
Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Hyundai Motor Group Scholarships at SOAS University of London. This initiative, sponsored by Hyundai Motor Group, is dedicated to fostering talent from Africa by providing five scholarships for postgraduate studies at SOAS. The program aims to develop specialists in sustainable development while establishing long-term partnerships that will support Africa’s next generation of leaders. These scholarships are designed to drive impactful change and equip students with the skills needed to address global challenges.
Recipients of the scholarship will have the opportunity to participate in a range of networking events and seminars organized by Hyundai Motor Group during and after their studies. Additionally, they will gain access to academic and professional networking opportunities as part of the Hyundai Motor Group Scholarship alumni community. This collaborative framework is designed to extend beyond their academic journey, offering ongoing support as they apply their knowledge and expertise to careers across Africa.
The scholarship is available for students enrolling in a full-time master’s or research degree program at SOAS for the 2025/2026 academic year. Candidates pursuing studies in the College of Development Studies, Economics and Finance, as well as the College of Law, Anthropology, and Politics, are particularly encouraged to apply. However, part-time and two-year master’s programs are not eligible for this funding opportunity.
Applicants must be African nationals who are ordinarily resident in Africa and classified as international fee-paying students. Only new admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year are eligible. Those applying for a master’s degree must have obtained, or be on track to achieve, a first-class honors degree or its equivalent from a UK university. Candidates with a 2:1 qualification may also apply, though preference will be given to those with the highest academic standing. For MPhil/PhD applicants, a master’s degree with distinction or its international equivalent is required. Those with a merit-level qualification may also be considered, but they will not be prioritized.
While scholarship applicants must have applied for a program at SOAS before submitting their funding application, they do not need to have received an admission offer by the scholarship deadline. However, an unconditional offer must be secured by the time the selection committee reviews applications. If an English language requirement is specified in the admission offer, applicants must fulfill it as soon as possible, as this scholarship does not cover pre-sessional language courses.
For master’s students, the scholarship provides a total of £27,730, covering tuition fees in full. If tuition costs are lower than this amount, the remaining funds will be issued as a stipend. The PhD scholarship will cover tuition fees for three years of full-time study, along with an additional year for the writing-up period. In addition to covering tuition, recipients will receive an annual stipend of £22,780 for the 2025/2026 academic year, disbursed in termly installments.
