FUNDED: Apply to join the first cohort of African Union’s Network of African Youth in Conflict Prevention and Mediation

The African Union wants to empower young people to play a key role in promoting peace on the continent. To achieve this, the fourth cohort of the Panel of the Wise proposed the establishment of a network called WiseYouth. This network aims to bring together young Africans who are passionate about conflict prevention, mediation, and dialogue. The network was endorsed by the African Union in February 2022 and operates under the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).

The WiseYouth Network has three main goals:

1. To build the capacity of young people in conflict prevention, mediation, and dialogue.
2. To advocate for the meaningful participation of youth in peace processes.
3. To create opportunities for young people to engage in mediation and dialogue interventions across the continent.

Members of the WiseYouth Network will be engaged in various activities, including:

- Advocating for increased youth participation in peace efforts
- Building the capacities of members through training and mentorship
- Engaging with policymakers to strengthen youth participation in peace processes
- Sharing experiences and documenting best practices
- Organizing community-level conflict prevention and dialogue activities
- Creating linkages with other youth mediator networks
- Undertaking other actions and activities as determined by the Network
