Up to $125K in Grants Available for Climate Storytelling in 2025

Storytellers, filmmakers, and creative media professionals are invited to apply for the 2025 Doc Society Climate Story Fund. This initiative is designed to support impactful narratives that highlight the interconnectedness of life on Earth and inspire action on climate change at a global scale.

The fund is seeking compelling stories that stir emotion, question societal norms, and motivate change. Whether through documentaries, fictional films, or innovative impact campaigns, these stories should help audiences imagine and advocate for a more sustainable future. Topics may include environmental restoration, social justice, ethical migration, and the responsible use of technology.

Funding of up to $125,000 is available to selected projects. The support will be provided for the completion of nonfiction works or for the development of impact campaigns linked to already-completed fiction or nonfiction projects.

Doc Society is particularly interested in diverse storytelling approaches that span a variety of genres, from romance and comedy to thrillers and drama. Additionally, they are prioritizing perspectives from underrepresented communities, stories that have the potential to reshape beliefs, and narratives capable of driving real-world action. Projects with the ability to reach wide audiences through platforms like film, digital streaming, and social media will be given special consideration.

Since its inception in 2021, the Climate Story Fund has distributed over $4 million to more than 50 projects across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. These projects have been showcased on platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Spotify, and the BBC, among others.

Key dates to keep in mind for the 2025 cycle include an informational webinar on February 26, 2025. Applications will close on March 10, 2025, at 7:00 AM PT. Selected grantees will be announced on July 25, 2025.
