HYBRID : Apply for the Rwanda Climate Science Symposium 2026 

Applications are open for Researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, and early-career scientists to participate in the 2nd Rwanda Climate Science Symposium (RCSS 2026), an annual platform dedicated to advancing climate research and strengthening evidence-based climate action in Rwanda and across Africa.

Scheduled to take place 22–23 September 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, the symposium will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation. The event seeks to promote collaboration between researchers, government institutions, development partners, civil society, and the private sector while fostering dialogue that connects scientific research with climate policy and practical implementation.

Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts showcasing innovative research and practical solutions aligned with the symposium’s thematic areas. The event aims to increase the visibility of climate science, encourage knowledge exchange, and support sustainable development through informed decision-making.

Symposium Objectives

The symposium focuses on:

  • Strengthening collaboration among climate researchers and institutions.
  • Enhancing the accessibility and visibility of climate science.
  • Bridging the gap between research, policy, and implementation.
  • Promoting evidence-based climate action and sustainable development.

The symposium is organized by a consortium of institutions, including Rwanda’s Ministry of Environment, the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), Rwanda Meteorology Agency, Rwanda Green Fund, University of Rwanda, GIZ, AKADEMIYA2063, and several other national and international partners committed to advancing climate science and resilience.

Researchers and practitioners interested in contributing to climate knowledge and policy are encouraged to submit their abstracts and register before the respective deadlines.
