Are you passionate about ocean conservation and have experience in scientific research and information management? Oceana, the largest nonprofit focused on restoring ocean health and abundance, is seeking an intern to join their Science & Strategy team.

This role offers the chance to contribute to critical initiatives aimed at protecting oceans, which play an essential role in mitigating climate change, supporting global food security, and sustaining the livelihoods of fishing communities.

Oceana, established in 2001, operates in over 12 countries with a dedicated team of scientists, policy experts, and communicators. Their science-driven campaigns focus on influencing policy changes in nations that manage a significant portion of the world's wild-caught fish.

As a Science & Strategy Intern, you'll assist the team by facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration across Oceana's global offices. You’ll also maintain information management systems, assist with project coordination, and handle research requests. This position provides a valuable opportunity to work alongside marine science professionals and contribute to meaningful ocean conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support science-based initiatives and projects.
  • Manage and update systems for scientific data and research.
  • Address research and data requests from international offices.
  • Work closely with a team of over 50 scientific staff across various locations.

Position Information:

  • Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid schedule: work in-office Tuesday-Thursday, remote on Monday and Friday).
