Applications are open for the International Forum on Global Citizenship Education, Partnerships and Peace, organised by the Ban Ki-moon Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and Salzburg Global.

The forum will bring together government officials, civil society representatives, educators, youth, business leaders and other stakeholders to examine how Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) can contribute to peacebuilding, social cohesion and global solidarity.

About the Forum

The one-day international forum will take place at Schloss Leopoldskron and will explore the relationship between education, peace and sustainable development at a time of increasing global challenges.

A central focus will be SDG 4.7, which promotes education that supports sustainable development, human rights, peace, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Participants will have an opportunity to exchange perspectives, share experiences and explore ways education can strengthen dialogue and cooperation across communities, generations and regions.

Objectives of the Forum

The International Forum aims to:

• Generate insights and recommendations that can contribute to discussions about the future of education beyond 2030.
• Explore the connection between education and peacebuilding.
• Examine how GCED and ESD can respond to social fragmentation, polarisation and declining trust.
• Identify promising practices and opportunities for collaboration.
• Showcase initiatives working across education, peace and sustainable development.
• Connect stakeholders from different sectors, regions and generations.
• Strengthen partnerships supporting Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development.
• Contribute to efforts towards achieving SDG 4.7.

The programme begins with registration at 10:00 CET, followed by the official opening at 10:30 CET.

Networking Opportunities

The event will provide opportunities for participants to connect with experts, policymakers, educators and youth leaders during networking breaks and the lunch session.

These interactions are intended to encourage new partnerships and knowledge exchange between people and organisations working across education, peace and sustainable development.

Online Participation

Although the main forum is an in-person event, participants who cannot travel to Salzburg can register to follow the proceedings through a livestream.

The online option allows viewers to watch the forum remotely, but active online participation, including Q&A and networking, will not be available.
