UN Women works to end discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and achieve equality between men and women as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, peace, and security. It is based on the equality vision enshrined in the UN Charter.

The Gender Equality, Health and HIV/AIDS Team, part of the Policy, Programme and Inter-Governmental Division, focuses on promoting gender responsive national HIV frameworks, strengthening public institution accountability, securing greater voice for women living with HIV, advocating for transparency in implementation, and integrating gender equality in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health. They aim to end gender-based discrimination, remove structural barriers, and promote women's participation in health-related decision-making.

The Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Program's primary goals are to support women and girls in their innovations, social enterprises, and abilities to secure social, economic, and environmental assets and knowledge, as well as to strengthen women's economic autonomy by expanding access to high-quality livelihood opportunities. A fair transition to the blue and green economies, climate-resilient agriculture, the care economy, and women's empowerment through decent work, entrepreneurial growth, and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement are the three main areas of attention for 2023.

The Policy Specialist's responsibilities include administering programmes, supervising gender economics research, and managing communications. Increasing understanding of gender equality, women's economic empowerment, and UN Women's programmatic features are among their learning objectives. Respect for diversity, honesty, professionalism, knowledge of gender issues, accountability, inventive problem-solving, effective communication, inclusive cooperation, and stakeholder involvement are among their core strengths.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 27-Mar-24 (Midnight New York, USA).
