There is a rapidly closing window to tackle the climate crisis. The global average temperature is currently estimated to be 1.1°C higher than pre-industrial levels. If current trends continue, the world may exceed the 1.5°C limit within the next 20 years and reach 2°C in the early part of the second half of the century. While it is still possible to limit global warming to 1.5°C, this will depend on the investment decisions made in the coming decade. The Green Climate Fund (GCF), a key component of the historic Paris Agreement, is the world’s largest climate fund and is tasked with helping developing countries achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for low-emission, climate-resilient futures.
