INTERNSHIPS AND RESEARCH PLACEMENTS: Apply for the Bayer Foundation Scientific Fellowships 2026
Applications are now open for the Bayer Foundation Scientific Fellowships 2026. If you’re dreaming bigger with your research next year, this is your chance to apply for funding of up to €10,000 for a six-month international research placement. The application window is open until April 15.
These fellowships support Master’s, PhD, and Medical Science students working in Drug Discovery Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Medical Sciences, or Climate & Health. Applicants can explore new research environments, pursue international projects, complete internships, and take a major step forward in their scientific journey.
The Bayer Foundation strongly encourages applications from women, individuals from low- and middle-income countries, parents with caring responsibilities, and individuals working in Germany with German as a second language, in line with their commitment to gender equality in science.
Eligible applicants include Master’s or PhD students from a wide range of disciplines, including pharmacy and data science, whose studies relate to the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries (Drug Discovery Sciences) or the Crop Science industry (Agricultural Sciences). The Medical Sciences fellowship is open to students of human and veterinary medicine, as well as Master’s and PhD students in medical engineering, applied medical sciences, data science in medicine, and public health.
A newly introduced fellowship for Climate & Health is also available for students in human or veterinary medicine, and Master’s or PhD students in natural sciences, pharmacy, public health, or epidemiology, with research connected to the health impacts of climate change. Priority focus areas include women’s health and vulnerable populations, cardio-renal health, neglected tropical diseases, and respiratory health.
Successful applicants can receive up to €10,000 and complete placements lasting up to six months. Students studying in Germany must carry out their placement in a second country, while students studying outside Germany must complete their fellowship at a German research institution.
