Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) is divided into two key segments: Supply, which oversees the production of beer and spirits, and Demand, which focuses on marketing and consumer engagement.

1.Job Title: Key Accounts Manager (KAM)

Level: Mid-Level Management

Reports To: Head of Sales

This position is within the Demand Sales business. The KAM serves as the primary contact between UBL and its key accounts, playing a crucial role in driving profits, volume growth, and brand development. The role is also instrumental in fostering trade innovation and creativity in key channels, focusing on off-trade and future consumption, with no direct interaction with distributors.

The KAM position requires the job holder to be field-based 100% of the time in various divisions, involving extensive travel, occasional overnight stays, and long periods without supervision. The job holder will collaborate closely with the Off Trade Manager and Sales Operations & Strategy Manager.

Leadership Responsibilities:

This role involves internal collaboration at middle to senior management levels and requires significant cross-functional support. As a key strategic liaison between UBL and trade partners, the KAM must maintain high levels of respect and contact. The role manages two Area Business Partners, four Customer Relations Managers, and associated resources and budgets.

Purpose of the Role:

The Key Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing all take-home trade channels, supermarkets, convenience stores, AFCOs, duty-free shops, hotels, clubs, and style bars. The role involves developing and executing Key Accounts’ plans to achieve mutually agreed objectives, profits, and brand growth targets.

Role Responsibilities:

- Develop Key Accounts Management Program and Business Plans with Distributor owners, maximizing the RTM value chain and driving volume "Push and Pull" strategies within distributors and retail outlets.
- Define and implement comprehensive Key Accounts business plans and strategies for the total alcohol portfolio.
- Identify emerging trade trends and insights, building and implementing innovative activity plans at the Key Accounts level.
- Work cross-functionally within UBL to manage both beer and spirits portfolios.
- Develop training and development plans for Key Accounts and Area Business Partners in collaboration with sales training.
- Create CDOS plans and activities that align brands with market opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Qualifications:

- A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent.

Experience:

- A minimum of 4 years of experience, with at least 2 years in Area Business Partnership or Customer Relationship Representation.

2. Job Title: Regional Sales Manager

Level: Mid level management

Directly Reports To: Divisional Sales Manager

This role is within the Demand business segment, specifically in the sales team. The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is pivotal to UBL's short-, medium-, and long-term objectives, focusing on developing and implementing trade strategies while ensuring operational excellence with distributors and throughout the route to market (RTM).

As the primary liaison between UBL and its distributors, the RSM is responsible for managing both “push” and “pull” strategies to drive volume and brand growth.

This position is field-based and requires close coordination with the Divisional Sales Manager (DSM), Customer Marketing (CM), and middle to senior management of distributors, with a strong emphasis on effectively executing distributor business plans. Additionally, the role involves working with distributors to enhance their institutional capacity, fostering sustainable, mutual business growth.

  • The role involves managing distributors and trade relationships to ensure customer profitability and long-term business sustainability. Key responsibilities include monitoring distributor performance, implementing management programs, and developing an efficient distribution network to achieve sales targets. The role requires strong customer relationships, optimal route management, and embedding new e-commerce practices. Additionally, the role focuses on data accuracy, people development, and capability building within the sales team. It also includes overseeing trade marketing activities, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, conducting market visits, and managing the region's P&L and sales budgets.
