PAID FELLOWSHIP: Apply for the Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program for young African changemakers (fully funded to Ghana)

Applications are open for the 8th cohort of the Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program, an internship designed to merge theoretical learning with hands-on experience. The program seeks to equip participants with advanced interdisciplinary knowledge, practical expertise, and research skills to tackle complex governance issues innovatively. This initiative also aims to cultivate a network of young pan-African leaders committed to driving sustainable governance across the continent.

At its core, the program fosters the development of youth through a well-structured capacity-building framework within a supportive work environment. Participants will receive training in transformational leadership, career advancement, and digital communication and technology. In addition to specialized instruction in resource governance, interns will be empowered with essential tools and mentorship to define and achieve both personal and professional objectives, alongside robust ethical leadership guidance.

 

Responsibilities of Participants

Selected participants will play a crucial role in shaping ACEP’s contributions to Africa’s energy and extractive policy landscape by:

•Preparing well-researched policy briefs and analytical reports on Africa’s energy and extractive sectors.

•Supporting stakeholder engagement to communicate ACEP’s insights and recommendations.

•Assisting in the planning, execution, and review of annual programs.

•Contributing to internal organizational development initiatives.

•Engaging in fundraising activities, including drafting grant proposals.

•Taking part in program management, monitoring, and evaluation processes.

Eligibility Requirements

This opportunity is open to young Africans residing on the continent who are no older than 32 years and passionate about leveraging Africa’s abundant energy and extractive resources for inclusive and sustainable development. Eligible candidates should meet the following criteria:

•Hold relevant academic qualifications in fields such as economics, engineering (petroleum/electrical), energy management, law, public policy, development studies, project management, or related disciplines.

•Demonstrate strong writing skills with clear and logical expression.

•Be proficient in analytical tools like R, Stata, Eviews, NVivo, or Atlas.ti.

•Possess excellent multitasking, time management, and organizational abilities.

•Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.

•Showcase creative problem-solving abilities and take proactive initiatives.

•Uphold accountability and take ownership of their decisions and actions.

•Display leadership potential and a commitment to ethical values.
