The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the largest multilateral climate fund globally, dedicated to funding impactful climate projects in developing nations. With a portfolio of 286 projects across 133 countries, totaling USD 15.9 billion, GCF has pledged an additional USD 12.8 billion in 2023 to support its new programming cycle for 2024-2027. GCF aims to increase this fund to USD 50 billion by 2030.
Role Overview: As an Operations Control Intern, you will join a dynamic and diverse team representing over 80 nationalities, bringing expertise from various sectors, including government, nonprofit, academia, and private sectors. This internship is an excellent opportunity for recent postgraduates or those finishing their Master’s or PhD to gain valuable hands-on experience.
Internship Assignments: You will be contributing to key projects in the Operations Control Unit, which focuses on establishing a risk-based internal control framework. Specific projects include:
- Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping (PROM): Enhancing the Fund’s project risk assessment processes.
- Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA): Supporting reviews of risks and designing control systems.
- Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Implementing integrated tools for organizational risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating the Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping (PROM) project, researching best practices in risk management and internal control.
- Support Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) workshops, drafting documentation like process flowcharts and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to monthly reports by collecting and analyzing data.
- Shadow the Operations Control Manager in meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information
Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s or PhD program in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
Knowledge of risk processes and controls, as well as international organizations’ operations, is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), with Visio experience being an advantage.
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Fluency in English; additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese are beneficial.
