Applications are open for individuals passionate about sustainable land management, rural development, and addressing climate and environmental challenges through economic solutions. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is seeking an intern to join its Resilient Rural Areas sector project and the Economics of Land Degradation (ELD) Initiative Secretariat.

This internship offers a unique chance to contribute to global efforts addressing land degradation, biodiversity loss, and climate change while gaining hands-on experience in international development cooperation.

What You’ll Do

- Support the ELD Secretariat on economic topics such as sustainable bioeconomy.
- Assist in preparing newsletters, presentations, and social media content.
- Contribute to research, data analysis, and expert assessments.
- Help prepare materials for BMZ submissions, events, and workshops.
- Provide logistical and communication support for international meetings.
- Be part of knowledge-sharing and policy discussions on land governance and climate resilience.

Eligibility Criteria
- Students (4th semester onwards) or recent graduates (within the past 6 months) in:
Economics (with environmental focus), Geography, Agriculture, Environmental, Political, or Social Sciences with an economic angle.
- Knowledge of soil/nature conservation, sustainable land management, environmental economics, or rural development.
- Strong communication skills in German & English (Spanish is a plus).
- Organized, motivated, flexible, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable with MS Office and social media (LinkedIn preferred); design/graphics skills are a bonus.
