The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is looking for a dedicated and talented Learning Manager to join their team. This role is essential for collecting, analyzing, and implementing effective practices to strengthen the organization’s impact. The position emphasizes the use of data to drive global climate justice efforts.
Background
The Youth Climate Justice Fund supports youth-driven climate justice movements by providing trust-based funding, resources, and peer-to-peer capacity-building opportunities. Officially launched during New York Climate Week 2023, YCJF received over 1,800 applications during its inaugural grantmaking cycle. In 2024, the fund closed its second open call, receiving more than 2,500 applications. To date, funding has been allocated to over 90 groups across more than 45 countries.
Location
This position is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Global Majority countries. Applicants must reside within +/- 4 hours of the PST (GMT-8) time zone.
Compensation
The role offers a rate of $230 per day (35 hours per week) with additional benefits.
Contract Type
The position is structured as a renewable consultancy contract, facilitated through a fiscal sponsor based in the United States. The contract includes compensated leave and benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Impact Measurement
•Design strategies to collect and present evidence of impact through indicators, tools, surveys, case studies, and interviews. Analyze this data to build compelling cases for increased investment in youth-led climate initiatives.
•Create a value-driven “evidence agenda” with strategic qualitative and quantitative metrics aligned with YCJF’s Theory of Change.
•Simplify reporting processes for grantee partners, introduce feedback systems for organizational learning, and improve donor engagement and knowledge-sharing mechanisms.
Evaluation and Learning
•Apply best practices to help grantee partners track and evaluate their strategies, fostering a culture of continuous learning for YCJF and the philanthropic community.
•Engage in relevant peer monitoring and evaluation forums, sharing insights and integrating new knowledge into organizational practices.
•Develop a knowledge management system to archive resources for easy access and use.
•Identify the learning and development needs within YCJF’s network and implement tailored resources.
•Lead the development of safeguarding and duty of care policies for grantee partners.
•Oversee the preparation of annual reports and other learning-focused materials.
Research
•Develop research outputs for external audiences, including funding landscape analyses and interviews with stakeholders.
•Collaborate with regional teams to gather insights on youth-led climate solutions and analyze grantee reports for trends.
•Coordinate cross-team efforts to establish new strategic performance indicators in preparation for the 2026-2030 framework.
Candidate Profile
Experience
•A minimum of 5 years in nonprofit work, with experience in facilitation, training, impact measurement, and learning practices. Experience in climate justice or social justice is an advantage.
•A strong track record in conducting qualitative research and facilitating stakeholder interviews.
•Proven ability to lead teams and manage consultants in dynamic, global environments.
•Experience in planning and facilitating both virtual and in-person events.
•Commitment to supporting social justice movements, particularly those involving historically marginalized groups.
•Familiarity with working alongside grassroots communities and youth is an asset.
Skills
•Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities with a focus on kindness and collaboration.
•Proficiency in data management tools such as Excel, with knowledge of platforms like Dedoose or Tableau being advantageous.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•The capacity to manage multiple deadlines and adapt under pressure.
•Independent working ability combined with effective teamwork and coordination skills.
•Fluency in additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Arabic, Hindi, or French is a plus.
