The European Union (EU) places significant emphasis on engaging and including young people as part of its broader agenda for external action and international partnerships. Recognizing the vital role of youth in driving meaningful change, the EU is committed to amplifying their voices and ensuring their perspectives are central to the creation and implementation of its policies and programs in partner countries, including Uganda. To further this vision, the EU Delegation to Uganda launched the Youth Sounding Board (YSB), a dynamic initiative that brings together twenty young Ugandans to actively shape the future of EU-Uganda relations. This platform fosters inclusivity and responsiveness in development cooperation by creating a space for young people to contribute their insights and ideas.

The YSB serves as a mechanism to make EU development efforts in Uganda more participatory, effective, and aligned with the needs of young people. It enables youth and youth-led organizations to voice their opinions, collaborate with one another, and engage directly with the EU Delegation and Member States. The call for applications for the second season of the YSB is now open to Ugandans aged 18 to 30, with the selection process designed to promote gender, thematic, and geographical diversity.

To qualify, applicants must be Ugandan nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 as of December 1, 2025. They should demonstrate a strong interest in sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and must be actively involved in youth-related spaces, whether as activists, community leaders, or similar roles. Additionally, candidates are expected to have an active presence on social media platforms, reflecting their engagement and ability to connect with others.

This initiative is a unique opportunity for Ugandan youth to shape their country’s development journey and influence EU cooperation strategies. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply and make their voices heard.
