Operating under the Industry and Economy Division, the Chemicals and Health Branch focuses on promoting safer practices, technologies, and policies for chemical and pollution management. This position supports the Secretariat of the Global Framework on Chemicals, a new initiative established at the 2023 International Conference on Chemicals Management to enhance global coordination in this domain.

Key Responsibilities:

•Communication Strategy: Design and implement outreach plans for the Global Framework on Chemicals, tailoring content for specific audiences and high-profile events.

•Media Engagement: Develop press materials, target relevant media channels, follow up with journalists, and assess media coverage outcomes.

•Content Creation: Produce a range of communication materials, including brochures, press releases, feature articles, audiovisual media, and digital assets.

•Digital Strategy: Oversee the redevelopment of the Framework’s digital platform to enhance user experience and align with UNEP’s digital policies.

•Stakeholder Engagement: Foster and maintain relationships with key partners to facilitate the implementation of the Framework.

•Data Analysis: Utilize data visualization and analytics to monitor trends, inform decisions, and create reports on activities and their impact.

Competencies Required:

•Expertise in Technology: Familiarity with communication tools and platforms, including design software, analytics tools, and digital applications.

•Innovative Thinking: Ability to propose creative solutions and explore alternative approaches to meet organizational goals.

•Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and accountability in achieving results.

Educational Qualifications:

•Advanced Degree: Master’s or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field.

•Alternative Pathway: A bachelor’s degree in the same disciplines with two additional years of relevant experience is also acceptable.

•Additional Skills: Background in data analytics or business intelligence is advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

•A minimum of five years in strategic communications, public relations, or media relations.

•Proven expertise in global communication planning and project reporting.

•Prior experience producing content for news outlets or international entities.

•Familiarity with digital communication tools and web strategies is preferred.

•Data analytics experience is an asset.

Language Proficiency:

•Fluency in English is mandatory.

•Knowledge of another UN language, such as French, is considered an advantage.
