USD 500 GRANT: Apply for the Global Citizen Scholarship 2025 for young African Changemakers

The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is thrilled to launch the 8th round of the highly anticipated Global Citizen Scholarship Program for 2025. Designed to empower young African leaders passionate about advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this fully virtual scholarship program provides a unique platform for change-makers to implement localized SDG Micro-Projects in their communities.

Over the course of 8 to 9 months, selected scholars will engage in intensive learning, networking, and project development. The program includes a two-week summer school at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) University, peer-to-peer mentoring, and expert-led workshops on topics related to sustainable development and entrepreneurship. Scholars will also receive seed funding of $500 USD to support the execution of their SDG Micro-Projects after submitting approved proposals. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a certificate of achievement signed by esteemed Co-Chairs of the Ban Ki-moon Centre, H.E. Ban Ki-moon and H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer.

The 2025 cohort will consist of 17 participants: 14 young African changemakers aged 20 to 35 from across Africa, joined by three students from Management Center Innsbruck University. Scholars will gain an in-depth understanding of the Agenda 2030 framework, expand their expertise in sustainable development, and build essential entrepreneurial skills to support future initiatives. This program also offers a valuable opportunity to connect with global networks and collaborate with like-minded professionals dedicated to creating a more sustainable world.

Eligibility criteria are designed to attract a diverse pool of talented individuals. Applicants must hold African citizenship and be between 20 and 35 years old at the time of application. While a completed Master’s degree is typically required, candidates who have successfully completed the first year of their Master’s studies may also be considered under exceptional circumstances. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the SDGs and the principles of global citizenship and possess a minimum English proficiency level of B2, as per European standards.

This scholarship offers an incredible chance to elevate entrepreneurial skills for sustainable development, deepen knowledge of the SDGs, and execute meaningful projects that create lasting impact. Aspiring scholars who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to submit their applications by February 24, 2025, to seize the opportunity to become a Global Citizen Scholar.

Take your passion for sustainable development to the next level and become part of an empowering movement for change. The Global Citizen Scholarship is your platform to lead and inspire transformative action for a better future!
