Are you passionate about sustainable development and shaping Canada's future? The Government of Canada is inviting applications for the Minister’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council (SDAC), which plays a vital role in advising the Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise and represent diverse sectors and regions across the country.

Position Overview

  • Role: Member of the Sustainable Development Advisory Council
  • Term: 4 years, starting May 2025
  • Volunteer Position: Reimbursement for travel expenses is provided
  • Eligibility: Canadian residents who meet specific membership categories

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide feedback on drafts of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS).
  • Advise the Minister on sustainable development matters.
  • Engage in collaborative discussions, presentations, and provide expertise during the development of FSDS.
  • Represent your constituency’s interests, perspectives, and concerns regarding sustainable development.
  • Attend at least two meetings annually, with additional engagement during consultations.

Eligibility Criteria
Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Reside in the province or territory you wish to represent.
Be employed by a relevant organization (business, labour, environmental, or Indigenous group).

Education & Experience:

A degree in a related field (e.g., sustainable development, economics, social sciences) or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of sustainable development issues, particularly the 2022-2026 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy.
Ability to communicate effectively on sustainable development issues.

Personal Attributes:

Leadership, sound judgment, diplomacy, and high ethical standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to represent your membership category effectively.
