VOLUNTEER ROLES: Apply for the UNICEF Young People’s Action Team (YPAT) 2025 Programme
Applications are open for the 2025 Young People’s Action Team (YPAT) by UNICEF South Asia! If you’re between the ages of 10 and 24, deeply passionate about the rights of children and young people, and eager to drive positive change in your community and beyond, this is your moment to step forward.
The Young People’s Action Team is a dynamic space where young leaders from across South Asia come together to actively shape UNICEF’s regional programmes. This is more than just a seat at the table—it’s a chance to influence how UNICEF plans, delivers, and reviews its work, ensuring that youth voices are front and center in shaping a better world. Whether you’re into advocacy, content creation, peer mentorship, or grassroots organizing, YPAT offers an empowering platform to grow, connect, and make an impact.
Successful applicants will join a vibrant team of up to 34 members from across the region, representing diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. You’ll be able to contribute to areas you’re most passionate about—from child rights, gender equality, and mental health to climate action, education, and disaster response. Members will be grouped into four main themes—foundational learning, climate change, adolescent girls, and community health—but there’s also space for involvement in other important issues like WASH, social protection, and youth employability.
To be eligible, you must have a strong interest in the wellbeing and rights of young people, some experience in youth-led initiatives or community involvement, and the ability to dedicate 8-10 hours each month for a minimum of one year. Basic English and communication skills are expected, and prior collaboration with UNICEF or other youth networks is a bonus. The YPAT is especially looking for individuals who can act as connectors—engaging with their peers, gathering insights from marginalized groups, and ensuring that the most overlooked voices are heard and represented.
As a YPAT member, you’ll have the opportunity to advise on strategic plans, contribute to advocacy campaigns, take part in regional and international youth events, and build partnerships with other youth-led organizations. Your voice will help shape real decisions and influence meaningful action at the highest levels of UNICEF’s regional programming.
By joining YPAT, you don’t just become part of a team—you become part of a movement. A movement where your perspective can shape policies, your creativity can drive campaigns, and your leadership can transform communities. And even after your term, you may be invited to continue supporting the team as a mentor or youth expert.
If you’re ready to stand up, speak out, and lead the way for children and youth across South Asia, apply now and be part of something bigger. This is your chance to lead, learn, and leave a lasting mark.
