About COY20

The Global Conference of Children & Youth (COY) is a signature event of YOUNGO, designed to empower young people and integrate their perspectives into the UNFCCC decision-making process. It plays a key role in ensuring that children and youth have a voice in shaping global climate policies.

COY is built on four core pillars:

1.Policy Contribution – Developing key documents that feed into international climate negotiations.

2.Capacity Development – Equipping youth with knowledge and tools to participate effectively.

3.Practical Skill Enhancement – Hosting workshops that prepare young leaders for climate action.

4.Cultural Exchange – Fostering collaboration across diverse backgrounds to strengthen global solidarity.

This year, COY20 will take place in Brazil in the days leading up to COP30. As the largest youth-led climate conference connected to the UN climate process, COY20 will serve as a preparatory space for young participants heading to COP. Additionally, it will consolidate insights from children and youth worldwide into the Global Youth Statement on Climate Justice, directly informing climate negotiations.
