A volunteer opportunity is available for 15 individuals from all across Europe to participate in a one-month summer project called "THE FOREST IS OUR HOME 2024" in Arrouquelas, Portugal. The European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union is the source of funding for this project, which is coordinated and facilitated by "H2O" - Associação de Jovens de Arrouquelas.

This project is a summertime team-building exercise in Arrouquelas, Portugal, with fifteen volunteers from different European nations. The objective is to preserve woods and avert fires, promoting environmental consciousness and useful skills in youth. The programme encourages cooperation, inclusivity, and understanding among its members, especially refugees.

Passports, travel tickets, European Health Insurance Cards, comfy clothing, slippers, toiletries, towels, personal medication and optional things like speakers, instruments, games and swimsuits are required for participation.

Program Benefits

A huge home in the hamlet or tents will be used for accommodations, and several organisations will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the participants. HENNER will give them private insurance as well as pocket money. Depending on how far Portugal is from your home, you will be paid for your travel costs. In order to be reimbursed, participants must retain their travel documentation, including online boarding passes and tickets. Additionally, they are eligible for a YouthPass certificate, which they must add to their resume and evaluate their own learning.

Eligibility Criteria

between the ages of 18 and 30.

- An individual who is a citizen or a resident of one of the following nations: Kosovo, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Georgia, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Jordan, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Moldova (Republic of), Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, and Kosovo.

- Exhibit a social and environmental mindset

- Prepared to learn about rural development concerns and engage in outdoor activities

- Prepared to take an active part in every task during the project

- While not required, having a strong grasp of English is preferred.
