The Climate Skills for Youth Advanced Programme is inviting applications from young people interested in strengthening their knowledge, practical skills and confidence to participate in climate action, policy discussions and international climate processes.

The interactive training is designed for participants who already have a basic understanding of climate change, sustainability, energy, policy, advocacy, research or related areas and want to take their knowledge to the next level. The programme will explore key climate and energy issues from an African and youth perspective while helping participants better understand how they can contribute to meaningful climate solutions.

A major focus of the training will be Africa’s energy transition, including renewable energy, energy access and the principles of ensuring that the transition towards cleaner energy is fair, inclusive and beneficial to communities. Participants will also explore international climate negotiations and policy processes, gaining a clearer understanding of how negotiations take place, how different climate issues are debated and how young people can effectively engage in these spaces.

Through the programme, participants will strengthen their ability to analyse climate challenges and opportunities, communicate climate-related ideas and positions, contribute to policy discussions and develop practical approaches to youth-led climate action. The training will also help participants identify ways to apply their knowledge beyond the programme through projects, advocacy, research, policy engagement and other climate-related opportunities.

The programme is particularly suited to young people who already have some exposure to climate change or sustainability and are looking to deepen their expertise, expand their practical skills and become more effective participants in climate and policy spaces.
