About the ITU Gender Champions Programme
The programme is designed to recognize and support emerging women leaders who are using technology to address community challenges and expand opportunities for others.
Implemented by the International Telecommunication Union, with support from Australia and Women’s WorldWide Web (W4), the initiative aims to amplify the work of young women while connecting them with experts, policymakers and innovators working across the digital ecosystem.
The programme welcomes a range of technology-driven initiatives, including work focused on digital skills, connectivity, digital innovation, online safety, artificial intelligence for social good and inclusive digital policies.
AI for Good Global Summit 2027
One of the key opportunities offered through the programme is participation in the AI for Good Global Summit 2027, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 21–25 June 2027.
The Summit provides an international platform for conversations around artificial intelligence, innovation and technology for positive social impact.
For the selected Gender Champions, participation will provide an opportunity to connect their community-level work with broader global discussions on inclusive digital transformation.
Who Is the Programme For?
The ITU Gender Champions Programme is particularly relevant to young women who are already taking action through technology and want to expand the reach and impact of their work.
Applicants can demonstrate their contribution through community projects, digital initiatives, advocacy, technology-based solutions, skills development programmes or other activities that promote a more inclusive digital future.

Applications will be assessed by the ITU and programme partners against the eligibility and selection criteria outlined in the official programme Terms and Conditions.
