Leaders guided by principles who aspire to spur inclusive growth and systemic change throughout Africa are the target audience for this fellowship. The following factors influence applicants' decision to apply for the fellowship:

They are at a turning point in their leadership development, they have scaled an innovation-driven firm successfully, and they are looking for methods to help innovation and entrepreneurship thrive throughout Africa.

Each year, 10 to 15 fellows are accepted into the cohort that is based on the fellowship. As a cohort, the fellowship provides fellows with the supportive framework they need to determine the next phase of their leadership and entrepreneurial careers, moving past present turning points. A learning environment that is extremely supportive of deep transformation is created by the small number of fellows in each cohort, the emphasis on a selective profile, and the distinctive curation of the curriculum.

Seminars on personal leadership, classes taught by MIT faculty, and cohort experiences touring innovation environments—including several ecosystems in Africa—are all included in the curriculum. All together, this special programme equips fellows to spearhead projects that quicken ecosystem growth across the continent as well as in their local markets.
