Apply for The Allianz Climate Risk Research Award (2024) provides financial support as well as a financed trip to Munich, Germany

The Allianz Climate Risk Award for 2024 is now accepting applications. The Allianz Climate Risk Award was established in 2017 to honour early-career scientists whose research illuminates the connection between extreme weather events and climate change.

The Allianz Climate Risk Award is a worldwide recognition programme available to post-doctoral and PhD candidates whose work focuses on the following areas: understanding and reducing the risk of extreme weather events that are made more intense by climate change;

strengthening resilience through the use of technology.

The deadline for papers is July 1, 2024, with a submission deadline of August 31, 2024. The finalists will be announced in late September, and the award ceremony will take place on November 26, 2024.

Program Benefits
A group of industry and academic specialists shortlists ten applications, and their work is included in a Compendium on the Allianz Re website. A trip to Munich, Germany is extended to the top three shortlisted applicants to showcase their research project at the Allianz Climate Risk Award Event.
The Allianz Climate Risk Award 2024 winner will be given a financial prize of EUR 7,000. Each of the other finalists will get a financial prize of EUR 3,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Innovation: The goal of this research project is to develop a convincing methodology for evaluating the risks associated with natural disasters and to examine how new technology can reduce these risks and promote resilient society.
Impact: This research study has the potential to improve present practices on societal resilience or change the way insurance is now practiced.
Application: The research project tackles a pertinent issue and ideally has a link to a workable solution.
Highest academic standards: sound methodology and research strategy.
