Background :Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the global landscape, and Africa is no exception. With its potential to revolutionize various sectors across the continent, AI presents significant opportunities. However, African nations must overcome hurdles such as infrastructure challenges, skill shortages, and data privacy issues to fully harness its benefits. Strong collaboration between governments, the private sector, and international organizations will be essential to address these obstacles.
This program, made possible by UNITAR and Microsoft Africa, focuses on preparing Africa for AI readiness and exploring the AI landscape in a continent known for its immense diversity. As home to some of the fastest-growing economies, Africa is increasingly becoming a key player in the global economy.
The program aims to advance AI adoption and enhance the employability of African youth and women in the global workforce by equipping them with skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the future of work in the age of emerging technologies.
Event Objectives
In partnership with Microsoft Africa, UNITAR has developed a cutting-edge technology module aimed at helping youth and women harness the power of AI, particularly Generative AI and Responsible AI applications. These technologies have the potential to transform society and drive entrepreneurship, playing a key role in achieving sustainable growth and empowering young people and women across Africa, ensuring inclusivity for all.
