Job Overview: UNICEF is seeking a Communication Specialist (Media) for a P-3 level, fixed-term appointment within the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (GCA) at its New York headquarters. UNICEF works in 190+ countries to protect children's rights and help them achieve their full potential, and this role plays a crucial part in that mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor global media strategies for UNICEF’s development portfolios and global campaigns, especially focusing on climate, migration, and other priority issues.
- Write and edit press releases, articles, Op-Eds, and other media materials.
- Manage global media campaigns and secure media coverage across print, broadcast, online, and digital platforms.
- Organize press conferences, interviews, and events, and manage relationships with global media outlets.
- Support UNICEF spokespeople and manage risk communication when needed.

Additional Information
- Minimum 5 years of experience in communications/media relations, including at least 2 years of international media experience in the climate sector.
- Proven skills in leading global media strategies and working with international journalists.
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional UN languages like French or Spanish is an asset.
