GRANTS: Apply for these Communicity grants for young EU innovators
All applications for the CommuniCity pilot program must be submitted by October 31st, 2024, at 17:00 CET.
While the applications must be written in English, the quality of English is not evaluated, so applicants are encouraged to use translation tools if needed. CommuniCity is focused on seeking out new, innovative solutions that are still in the developmental phase and have not yet been fully commercialized.
Applicants should carefully read through the city-specific challenges before applying, as certain challenges may require additional documents such as a Letter of Intent. In total, there are 54 challenges available, and all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.
Regarding funding, CommuniCity is offering over 60 grants, each worth up to €12,500. These grants are intended to support selected pilot teams as they develop their solutions and conduct real-life experiments. The initiative is designed to foster collaboration, and to support this, the CommuniCity Consortium has established a Matchmaking Platform. This platform connects technology providers, residents, companies, and organizations, allowing them to find partners to work with on their projects.
In terms of eligibility, each pilot must have a duration of 1 to 5 months, depending on the specific needs of both the Piloting Group and the Client involved. It is crucial that the supplier carrying out the pilot adheres to ethical principles and complies with applicable EU, international, and national laws. This includes the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, along with its supplementary protocols.
While companies from outside the EU are allowed to apply, they are not eligible for funding. These companies must have sufficient self-financing to cover all associated costs. Additionally, each organization is limited to one application per challenge, but they may submit applications for multiple individual challenges.

Additional Information
Additionally, the program fosters collaboration by providing access to the CommuniCity Matchmaking Platform, a dedicated space where tech providers, residents, companies, and organizations can connect and form partnerships. This platform offers participants the opportunity to expand their networks, find like-minded collaborators, and tap into a broader pool of resources and expertise.
Moreover, CommuniCity allows participants to address real-world challenges, providing them with hands-on experience in solving pressing urban issues. This experience enhances their professional growth, positioning them as leaders in the tech and innovation sector. For non-EU companies, while funding is not available, the chance to showcase their solutions in Europe and potentially scale their operations provides a valuable stepping stone toward further growth and exposure.
