Apply for the German Foreign Office’s Climate Fund Program in South Africa

Projects pertaining to biodiversity, adaptation, and climate change mitigation are supported by the German Foreign Office's Climate Fund.

The German Foreign Office's Climate Fund seeks to support projects focused on one or both of the following areas: the economic opportunities of ecological transitions and the nexus between climate change, (food) security, and peace.

As societies face the challenge of climate change, they must transition their entire economies toward climate neutrality, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This shift opens up major opportunities for innovation and business growth in sectors such as decarbonizing industries, green hydrogen, electromobility, critical raw materials for the transition, agriculture, adaptation, and biodiversity, among others.

Eligible Projects

The German Foreign Office's Climate Fund seeks to support projects that:

- Propose innovative solutions in the realm of ecological transformation, such as decarbonizing industries, green hydrogen, electromobility, critical raw materials, agriculture, adaptation, biodiversity, and similar areas; and/or
- Contribute to raising awareness, sharing information, and developing action-oriented strategies or policies that address the nexus of climate change, food security, and peace.

Examples could include projects focused on population growth and potential climate migration, sustainable food production, access to water, nutritious food, and renewable energy, with the aim of maintaining peace in the region.
