Call for Applications From Eco-Anxiety to Eco Action & Empowerment Competition
With the topic "From Eco-Anxiety to Eco Action & Empowerment," the Trust for Sustainable Living is thrilled to announce the opening of its upcoming competition, which invites students to submit their unique, imaginative, and expressive answers.
Eco-anxiety, climate grief, and climate anxiety are defined as "negative emotional reactions arising from the environmental and climate crisis threat." A 2024 United Nations report has emphasized that eco-anxiety is an “emergency crisis hidden in plain sight” that could profoundly impact children and youth worldwide.
Recent global surveys reveal that over 50% of young people feel eco-anxiety and are deeply concerned about environmental and climate issues, often experiencing emotions like sadness, anxiety, anger, powerlessness, helplessness, and guilt.
TSL aims to support young people in building a sense of agency, empowerment, and hope by providing a safe, supportive space where students and teachers can channel eco-anxiety into eco-action and empowerment.
