To achieve this, the AU is expanding its capacity to deliver on its mission, including the execution of its organizational structure.
Internship Program Purpose:
The African Union Internship Program offers a valuable opportunity for interns to gain practical experience and enhance their professional skills. The program is full-time, open to individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, and provides exposure to the AU's operations. Interns are expected to demonstrate an interest in the AU's work and the ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural and belief systems. This internship helps participants build both personal and professional skills, providing hands-on experience in various fields while working in an intercultural environment. It also offers the AU support from participants with the skills needed for current and future challenges, serving as a potential platform for developing future African leaders.
Areas of Focus:
Interns generally assist in administrative and technical tasks to support the implementation of AU programs and activities. Internship opportunities are available in several departments and directorates, including:

Terms & Conditions:
- The AU does not provide financial support for travel, accommodation, or living expenses. These costs are the responsibility of the intern.
- The AU will assist with entry and residence visas, but travel expenses are not covered.
- The internship is a 3-month term, renewable once for another 3 months.
- Interns are not entitled to medical travel or evacuation; they must have individual insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comfortable with email and internet applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to write and speak clearly.
- Proficiency in at least one AU working language, with additional language skills considered a plus.

Additional Information
- Currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree program OR have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Must be a citizen of an African Union Member State.
- Full-time students in the final year of their Bachelor's or graduate program.
- Proficiency in at least one of the AU’s working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Must be under 32 years of age at the time of selection.
- Highest standards of moral conduct and integrity.
- No criminal convictions, excluding minor traffic offenses.
- Prior work experience is not required.
