With funding of more than £1,000,000) available : Apply for the Just Rural Transition Support Program 2025
To address concerns pertaining to sustainable agriculture and the transition of food systems, proposals are being accepted to establish and assist a worldwide community of practice of non-state actors.
This grant is part of the FCDO’s Just Rural Transition Support program, a £65 million, 5-year initiative aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices in developing countries through public policy design and implementation, including subsidy reforms.
The program seeks to benefit:
- People (through healthier diets and increased incomes)
- Climate (through mitigation and adaptation efforts)
- Nature (by protecting and restoring biodiversity)
Program Objectives
This component of the program aims to build a global community of practice that facilitates the sharing of lessons learned on innovative policy approaches to sustainable agriculture and subsidy repurposing. It also aims to amplify marginalized voices in food systems transformation and ensure their involvement in global discussions.
What the fund will achieve
Over four years, the grant will support the creation of a well-organized, non-state actor community that can influence policy reforms and contribute to positive food systems change. The focus will be on three main areas:
- Convening and Curating a Community of Practice: The goal is to foster an inclusive, positive global dialogue on food systems transformation that centers on non-state actors and farmers, outlining the roles of various stakeholders and showcasing best practices. This community will highlight successful case studies of both state and non-state actors, encouraging others to take action.
- Knowledge Sharing and Communications on Food Systems Transformation: This aspect will involve collaboration to develop key political and policy messages for governments and global forums. It will focus on helping non-state actors identify essential messages to present at international events, such as COP.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 28-Jan-2025.
