The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a key UN body that supports sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. ESCAP aids countries by fostering regional cooperation, providing technical assistance, and offering capacity-building services. It also plays a pivotal role in helping nations implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and assists less developed countries with infrastructure, trade, and institutional development. ESCAP publishes an annual report focusing on the progress of developing nations within the region.

Headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, ESCAP operates as one of the five regional commissions under the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The ESCAP Commission holds an annual meeting to address economic and social issues, review its strategic framework, and endorse its work program. ESCAP has 53 member states, including major nations like Australia, China, India, Japan, and the United States, as well as 9 associate members.
